another window and look at the sites on line! These sites are even
comparing their payouts to other sites who in some cases are paying
30-40% spot price!

If you find another buyer offering a
guarantee payout, take them up on their offer.
I pay a minimum 85% current spot price, so if you find another buyer
with an offer like this:
"We pay the highest prices for gold in the industry" It seems everyone is saying the same thing! "We proudly back our payouts with a 110% Price Guarantee. If you find a payout higher than ours, we will match that price plus pay you an additional 10% of the difference!" RIGHT! Contact me, get your payout amount, then contact them to see if they are full of you know what! Take them up on the offer.
Give them a call, and see if they will match 80% then add 10%. What would you find out? I pay MORE for non scrap estate/antique gold. Do you think these buyers would pay you more than spot price for your gold? These claims are not realistic. Keep in mind that when refining scrap gold there will be an average 2% burn off rate. You would be hard pressed to find a payout over 98%. In order to get 98% you must have large minimum weight requirements broken down for each karat: 10k, 14k, 18k. The standard is 5 troy ounces. You would need at least 5 troy ounces of 14K in order to get 98%. In addition you would need to have all stones removed. In addition, some refiners charge refining fees, and other fees.
Today 4/13/10, I was driving down US 41 in Fort Myers, and saw several new scrap gold buyers popping up. It seems like every other block another one is opening up! How many are opening in your town? contact me with what you find. Sustainable? Time will tell, but these shops have big over head to pay, and when confronted with a minimum 80% payout for scrap gold from me, I would not see them being able to get enough gold to pay the big over head cost. I may have started the guaranteed percentage payout, but I do see a shake out of a lot of these pop up gold buying places, and sites on line. Others will start bring straight forward when it comes to payout amounts soon!

The question you need to ask them, or figure out after you know what their payout is: what is the percentage of spot price payout!
